Dick Andrews homered twice and drove in four runs as Downers Grove National opened up an 8-0 lead against Clear Ridge en route to the state title. Pitcher Bob Behn allowed only four hits and a meaningless sixth inning run. In their semifinal victory over Springfield, Andrews fired a two-hitter and posted 13 strikeouts. Andrews, Bob McConaughy and Rob Grayeski provided the offense with home runs.
