After slamming nine home runs in its semifinal shelling of Taylorville (two each by Jay Wheeler, Tom Winrow, and Larry Dietrich, and one apiece by George Schultz, Brian Fosse, and Jerry Sackman), Naperville rode Wheeler's 13-strikeout pitching to a title-game win. Gregg Blair, Dietrich, and Wheeler had three hits apiece in the title game, while Sackman and Steve Giere each added two. Prospect Heights survived a tense finish in its semifinal win over Harvey American. Harvey rallied for two runs in the sixth inning, and had the tying and winning runs on base before Prospect Heights recorded the game's final out.
