Elgin National pitchers Don Hale, David Spencer, and Tony Jones recorded 30 strikeouts and allowed only three hits in blanking their two tournament opponents. Spencer and Jones split the duties in a semifinal win over Calumet City National, with Hale striking out eight and Spencer striking out seven in three innings of work each. In the title bout, Jones allowed only Robert Gear's fourth inning single in an overpowering performance. Jones recorded 15 strikeouts and issued just one walk while cruising to the victory. Scott Westphal singled home Dave Arnold in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie, and Dwight Hinton clubbed a three-run homer in the sixth to pad the margin of victory.

As the winner of the three-team District 2 tournament, Paris was placed in the District 17 semifinals. Quincy North won that tournament.
