Pitcher Scott Johnson hit one of Belmont's three home runs and struck out 11 as Belmont captured its first state title in the 25th anniversary of the league's charter. Belmont combined its homers with nine walks to open up a 9-0 lead after two innings before cruising to the victory. Tom Siebers cracked a grand slam, and Dorn Johnston also homered for the winners. In their semifinal victory, Dorn Johnston struck out nine, and Siebers added a pair of key hits as Belmont edged Lansing West.

As the winner of the two-team District 2 tournament, Paris was placed in the District 17 semifinals. Beardstown defeated Paris 10-8 in 9 innings in that semifinal round game.
