Summary:
Connellsville and Carroll Township shared bus transportation on the 500 mile trip to Levittown for the state tournament, and the two leagues, which are located approximately 25 miles from one another in southwestern Pennsylvania, then met for the title. Connellsville catcher Ricky Kerns made it a quiet ride home for Carroll Township by blasting a fifth inning grand slam that erased a 4-1 defecit and gave Connellsville a 5-4 title game victory.
In the semifinals, Connellsville was one strike away from being eliminated by Berwyn-Paoli before rallying for the win. Dan Lonigro's single scored Tim Bates and Greg Beucher and gave Connellsville a 5-4 victory. Carroll Township used three home runs -- two by John George and one by Randy Patch -- to eliminate Camp Hill in the other semifinal.
