The Rhode Island state champion advances to the New England Region Tournament in Bristol, Connecticut, where it competes against five other New England state champions for a berth in the Little League World Series. Five Rhode Island teams have participated in the Little League World Series, including Lincoln Little League in 2001 and 2004. Cranston Western Little League won the U.S. title in 1996, but no Rhode Island team has ever won the Little League World Series.
