(August 15, 2011) -- It took two days thanks to inclement weather, but Pennsylvania's Keystone Little League used a pair of home runs to topple New Jersey champion Paramus Little League, 5-2, in the Mid-Atlantic Region championship game this morning at Leon J. Breen Field in Bristol, Connecticut. Keystone becomes the first league from Pennsylvania's District 12 to bring a hometown flavor to the Little League World Series since Williamsport's Newberry Little League won the Eastern Region title in 1969. In anticipation of the overflow crowds that the local team is expected to bring, Little League officials have switched Keystone's opening round game at the series to the larger Howard J. Lamade Stadium, and have moved the scheduled first pitch to prime time. Consult the official Little League Baseball website for details of any further schedule changes spurred by the presence of the local team.

Keystone is the sixteenth and final team to qualify for this year's Little League World Series, which means our coverage of this year's international tournament is complete. Thanks to all who visited the site and helped us piece together the result from this year's district, sectional, and state tournament games -- there would be many holes in our coverage without your assistance. We will be back in the off-season with summaries and wrap-ups from this year's action, and of course will be back again next year to do it all over again.

(August 14, 2011) -- Yesterday was Championship Saturday, with no fewer than six region championships decided across the U.S. and Canada. North Oldham (Kentucky) grabbed the first berth, riding a 13-strikeout, one-hit pitching performance and leading wire-to-wire in a 3-0 victory over defending region champion Hamilton West Side (Ohio) in the Great Lakes Region finale in Indianapolis. Later on the same field, South Dakota's Harney Little League rallied late to overcome Kearney (Nebraska) Little League, 4-2, in a rain-shortened Midwest Region title game.

British Columbia champion Langley Little League blitzed to its second-ever Canadian championship with an 11-0 victory over Valleyfield (Quebec) at Chris Zuelke Memorial Park in North Vancouver, while Montana's Big Sky Little League became Montana's first-ever Williamsport qualifier with a 7-1 decision over Bend South (Oregon) in the Northwest Region finale. Rhode Island winner Cumberland American spotted Massachusetts' Andover National Little League a three-run lead in the top of the first, then responded with eight in the bottom of the frame and earned the New England Region title with a 13-7 decision at Leon Breen Field in Bristol, Connecticut. And in the nightcap, Southern California's Ocean View Little League pivoted from a 1-0 deficit to a 2-1 lead on the first two pitches in the top of the sixth inning to defeat Northern California's Red Bluff Little League, 2-1, in the West Region title game in San Bernardino.

The six winners join nine prior qualifiers and the winner of today's Mid-Atlantic Region decider in South Williamsport later this week for the 65th annual Little League World Series.

(August 12, 2011) -- Coming into this year's international tournament, just five states and the District of Columbia had never reached a region championship game in the 65-year history of the international tournament That list shrunk twice yesterday, as Kearney (Nebraska) earned that state's first-ever region championship game berth with a 5-1 victory over Iowa's Grandview Little League in the Midwest Region semifinals at Stokely Field in Indianapolis. Kearney will return to the same field on Saturday, where they face South Dakota's Harney Little League for the right to advance to the Little League World Series.

Later in the day, Montana secured its deepest-ever advance into international tournament play when Billings' Big Sky Little League topped Lewiston (Idaho) by a 6-2 margin in the Northwest Region tournament at Al Houghton Stadium in San Bernardino. The win snapped a string of five consecutive years in which Montana's winner bowed out in the region semifinals, and sent Big Sky into a championship game encounter with Oregon's Bend South Little League. Bend upended previously undefeated North Bothell (Washington) by a 4-3 count in the nightcap to secure Oregon's fifth championship game appearance in the past six years. The two semifinal winners meet Saturday afternoon with a trip to South Williamsport on the line.

(August 3, 2011) -- Paramus was pushed to a final game in the New Jersey state tournament at Monroe Township Little League's field, but the District 4 champions got a complete game, three-hit shutout from their pitcher and downed Erial to claim the Garden State championship last night in Williamstown. Paramus won three of their four state tournament games via shutout, and became the 52nd and final U.S. league to qualify for region tournament competition with their victory. Action in the Mid-Atlantic Region tournament begins on Friday, with Paramus idle until their clash Saturday evening with Pennsylvania's Keystone Little League. The New England Region tournament will again be held in conjunction with the Mid-Atlantic tourney in Bristol, Connecticut, with Maine's Yarmouth Little League entertaining New Hampshire winner Goffstown Junior Baseball in the opener Friday afternoon. Both winners advance to the Little League World Series a fortnight from now.

(August 1, 2011) -- Barre Community Little League made the most of every inning, coming from behind in each of its three victories at the Vermont state tournament in St. Johnsbury. The District 4 champions outlasted Bennington 17-16 in the winner's bracket final before defeating the same team by a 7-5 margin in the championship game on Saturday. The win brought the town its first Vermont crown since 1984, and pushed Barre into the New England Region tournament this weekend. Barre opens with the Connecticut state champions on Friday. That winner is still to be decided, as defending state and region champion Fairfield American forced a deciding game yesterday in the best-of-three state championship series with a 3-2 victory over Glastonbury American. The two meet to settle matters in the deciding game this evening.

(July 28, 2011) -- Defending champion Ocean View Little League worked its way back to the Southern California championship series last night, reversing a 3-2 deficit with a three-run homer in the top of the sixth and then holding on for a 5-4 victory over Chula Vista's Park View Little League in the South Sub-Divisional tournament in Fountain Valley. Ocean View now awaits their opponent from the North Sub-Divisional, where Encino forced a deciding game by using a nine-run fifth inning burst to run out a 16-5 win over Conejo Valley. The same two teams meet tonight in West Covina, and the winner returns to the same field on Saturday for the opening game in the best-of-three Southern California championship series.

Last year Pearland White Little League steamed through the Texas East and Southwestern Region tournaments en route to a berth in the United States championship game, and this year, Pearland Maroon hopes to chart the same course. The Maroons tied up the loose ends last night, scoring in double-digits for the fourth straight game and completing a climb from the bottom bracket with an 18-8 victory over Bryan Harvey in the Texas East championship game at Faulkner Field in Tyler. Pearland next heads to Waco, where they open play in the Southwestern Region tournament against Arkansas' White Hall Little League on August 5.

(July 24, 2011) -- Offense was plentiful as action opened Saturday at the Georgia state tournament in Cartersville. Each of the day's four winners scored in double-digits, with District 8 winner Columbus American setting the pace in a 10-3 victory over Cartersville in the day's first game. East Marietta National and Madison County also secured wins before District 4 representative Warner Robins American East capped the day with a 19-6 decision over Glennville in the nightcap. Four more games will be played today as pool competition continues through Wednesday, with semifinals played Thursday and the championship game set for Friday night at Rudy York Field. The winner moves on to Warner Robins for the Southeastern Region tournament.

Florida will also send a state champion to Warner Robins, and the field of hopefuls will be winnowed down to a final eight teams at the conclusion of sectional play this weekend. Two teams clinched spots in the state tournament on Saturday, with Niceville Valparaiso sweeping Chaires-Capitola to pocket the Section 1 title, and New Tampa sweeping past a trio of opponents to claim Section 4 honors. State Tournament action starts Friday at North Springs Little League's facility in Coral Springs, with Niceville facing the Section 3 winners and New Tampa clashing with the Section 7 winners in opening round matchups.

(July 21, 2011) -- Massachusetts moved into its second phase of tournament action last night as play began in each of the state's four sectional tournaments. Peabody Western -- which has finished third or higher at each of the last five state tournaments -- opened Section 4 play with an emphatic 22-1 victory over Danvers National. Andover National was on the same path in the nightcap, downing Stoneham by a 19-4 score. The two victors meet tomorrow evening with the winner hoping to spring into a berth in the championship game following round-robin competition.

Elswhere, winners were decided this week in each of Illinois' five sectionals. Clarendon Hills captured its first-ever state tournament berth with a win over Archer Manor in the Section 2 title game, while Olney earned its first sectional crown since 1988 with a win in the Section 1 decider in Tolono. Rock Falls became just the second District 19 league to advance to the state tournament in the past quarter-century with a 5-4 win over Manteno in the Section 5 championship bout in LaSalle. State tournament action opens on Friday at Butler Lake Park in Libertyville.

(July 20, 2011) -- Southern California's Rancho Mission Viejo was down to their final strike of the summer last night before a dramatic two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning propelled the District 68 winners to a 6-5 win over defending SoCal champion Ocean View Little League in the Section 10 tournament at Fountain Valley. Ocean View had edged Rancho Mission Viejo, 2-1, earlier in the tournament, so the two teams will meet again tonight for all the marbles and a berth in the Southern California South Sub-Divisional tournament this weekend. Park View Little League reached the sub-divisional by claiming top honors in Section 7 last night, and the other three slots could be determined this evening as action continues throughout the Southland. Three of the five spots in the North Sub-Divisional are also decided, with Conejo Valley, Encino, and La Verne all capturing sectional titles last night.

All of the remaining Southern California hopefuls are aiming to reach the West Region tournament in San Bernardino next month, and a pair of state champions have already punched their tickets for that tourney. Washington Little League bounced back from a loss to Snow Canyon earlier in the day with a 5-0 victory in the Utah title game, while Hawaii's Central East Maui clinched its second Hawaiian title in three years by sweeping a pair from Makakilo Kapolei Honokai-Hale Little League on Tuesday to climb out of the bottom bracket at War Memorial Field in Wailuku. Both clubs will play their next game against the Arizona state champion, with Washington playing in the tourney opener on August 5 and Central East Maui entertaining the Grand Canyon State winner the next day.

(July 10, 2011) -- Loyalsock had scored 16 or more runs in five straight games while rampaging through the bottom bracket, but that string came to a hard stop in the Pennsylvania District 12 finale at Volunteer Stadium in South Williamsport over the weekend. Defending champion Keystone scored in double-digits for the fifth consecutive game and dispatched Loyalsock, 13-3, to claim the title. Keystone now moves into Section 3 competition in Milton, where they will open play against the District 15 champions on Saturday.

Sectional action is already underway in Texas West, where a pair of victories moved local favorite North Brownsville to the cusp of the Section 4 title at West Brownsville Little League's field. North Brownsville entertains Padre tonight with a loss to give, and the Section 4 winner makes the long trek to Fort Worth for the Texas West championship later this month. Midland Northern and Lubbock Southwest opened with victories in Section 1 play, while action commences on Tuesday in Weatherford and Eagle Pass for Section 2 and 3 competition.

(July 2, 2011) -- We've barely started navigating our way through the month of July, and already district winners are starting to emerge throughout the country. Midland Northern was one of the first out of the gate, clinching the District 3 title with a pair of wins over Jim Parker and moving into the Texas West Section 1 tournament later this month, while Corpus Christi's Padre Little League did the same to Oil Belt in District 23 action and moves into Section 4 competition. Meanwhile, Visalia National found the going a little tougher in their second meeting with Delano, but still managed to follow an earlier 24-5 triumph with a 6-3 win in the District 34 decider. Visalia moves into Northern California Section 6 action in two weeks' time, while in Florida, San Carlos does the same following a 7-2 win over homestanding Bonita Springs in the District 18 finals. Action continues around the globe this week as we continue the long march toward South Williamsport.

(June 19, 2011) -- Teams are already hard at work gearing up for this year's run at the Little League World Series, and that means it is time to begin our coverage of the 65th annual Little League Baseball international tournament for the major baseball division. For the 16th consecutive year, we will bring you coverage from tournament action around the U.S. and Canada, beginning with the earliest results in area and district tournament competition, and culminating with the final pitch that sends a team rocketing toward South Williamsport. As always, we rely heavily on site visitors to help us to keep tabs on the thousands of results as the tournament progresses, so if you can provide results for tournaments that are not listed on this site, please contact the Unpage.

While we are ramping up our coverage of this year's tournament, we've also taken a trip in the wayback machine, and have added results from all region tournaments between 1949 and 1956. Most state tournaments were first held in 1957 when the international tournament structure stabilized, but these early results help highlight how the first handful of qualifiers for the Little League World Series advanced toward Williamsport. (June 8, 2011) -- Adelaide Southern has retained the Australian championship for a second consecutive year. The South Australia power pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a walk-off 2-1 victory over Western Australia's Perth Metro North Little League in the grand finale at the Surfer's Paradise Baseball Club complex in Queensland. Adelaide won six of its seven games at the four-day tournament, and next travels to Guam to battle with other national winners from across the Pacific Rim at the Asia-Pacific Region tournament in July. The Asia-Pacific winner advances to the Little League World Series.

Meanwhile, the field is rapidly filling up for the Japanese Region tournament. Tokyo Kitasuna grabbed the first of two berths allocated to Tokyo teams this past weekend, pushing past Tokyo Nakano Little League by a 7-6 score in a game that involved five lead changes. Three of the five teams still in the hunt for Tokyo's second berth suffered their initial losses to Tokyo Kitasuna and will try to survive elimination games this coming weekend and then a three-team playoff in two weeks time. Tokyo Kitasuna opens region tournament play against the Kanagawa champions on July 2, while the second qualifier faces off with Niihama in the other half of the draw.

(April 13, 2011) -- Defending Australian champion Adelaide Southern punched its ticket to the Australian national tournament over the weekend, taking two-of-three games in its annual South Australia state tournament showdown with Adelaide Northern. The Southerners claimed a 6-2 victory in the rain-shortened opener at Riverland Baseball League's facility in Berri, then dropped game two before overwhelming their Northern counterparts in the deciding matchup. Mount Gambier will be joining the Adelaide squad at the national tournament after sweeping to the Country South Australian title at the same facility. The Australian championships will be decided at the Surfers' Paradise Baseball Club facility in Queensland in late May.

(January 30, 2011) -- While the Eastern Seaboard of the United States digs out from another Nor'easter, playing conditions are a bit more favorable in Australia, where action has begun in the 2011 international tournament. It is high summer in the Southern Hemisphere, and Victoria has determined its two representatives in this year's national tournament with Ringwood District claiming the Country Victoria title and Waverley bagging its fourth consecutive metro state championship.

Action in most other Australian state tournaments will commence around Easter weekend, with state and country (non-metro) champions from throughout the country joining the Victoria contingents at the Australian national tournament in June.

Japanese Region action will begin in April, while U.S. and Canadian district tournaments kick off in late June.
